A common misconception about depression is someone in bed crying all day, with no desire to live.
While that may be true for some, there are those that seem “normal”.
Brave faces go to work, smiling and laughing throughout the day, with the possibility of drinks after hours.
It is only when they get home that the mask comes off and what’s left of that jolly person is emptiness.
Emptiness and Fatigue from pretending to be someone they are not all day. They are haunted by the feeling of being an imposter… a liar… a deceitful person…
Then they fall asleep, or they lay awake all night. When the alarm rings in the morning, they drag their feet, but when they step out of their homes, the mask is back on.
We know nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Depression is isolating.
It’s a lonely place to be.
